Hi
Anybody knows reason for existing msn messenger and windows messenger as =
a separate entities, is one somehow working with the other or against =
the other - is there any advantage for having them both on one system, =
on the surface it looks like msn messenger is more advanced (?), somehow =
I don't buy idea (I read that here couple of days ago) that one is for =
"corporate" users and the other is for "home" users.

cheers

Greetings,

One is not "for corporate" and one for "home" users, that is just hearsay invented by the
press. MSN Messenger is centered around MSN technologies (Hotmail, MSN Member Profiles, MSN
Mobile, etc.) whereas Windows Messenger is centered around Windows technologies (Exchange
Server, Greenwich/RTC Server, Windows Netmeeting, etc.). Both however can make use of
Microsoft technologies, like the .NET Messenger service and .NET Alerts. Although obviously
Windows Messenger will find its way into a more corporate environment (just because of what
it supports), but *both are for everyone*.

There are some advantages to having both (mainly if you have two Passports, you can be signed
into both at the same time, one in each client).
