Messenger 6 - contacts not showing.

I have just upgraded from messenger 4.7 to version 6. I uninstalled 4.7 and
everything works fine except online contacts no longer display status in
contacts list i.e. I can't see whether they are on/off line without
bringing up messenger window - any answer?????

Greetings Freddy,

Your contact list cache may have been corrupted in MSN Messenger 6. To correct, you'll need
to go into the registry and remove the "bad" entries -- right-click the Messenger icon in the
system tray (by the clock) and choose Exit.
Then start the registry editor by clicking Start, then Run, enter "regedit" and click OK.

Then go to (they look like small folders) My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNM essenger. Click the 'MSNMessenger' key
(which again, looks like a folder), then go to the Edit menu, and then choose Delete. Say
"Yes" to confirm the operation. Then start Messenger again and try to sign in.
