Jon,

Have you or Microsoft ever considered renaming this
newsgroup to microsoft.public.windowsxp.messagingclients
or something like that? It would help eliminate
the "messenger" service questions and allow this forum to
focus on the instant messaging client that Microsoft
produces called "Windows Messenger."

And, perhaps a new group could be created called
microsoft.public.windowsxp.os.services.messenger

This might allow someone who is new to this technology
to differentiate between an instant message client, and
the messenger service that they seem to be so annoyed with.

Just an idea ...

Kevin

Greetings Kevin,

Unfortunately Microsoft rarely renames (or removes) groups. Since the groups are spread over
all of Usenet, and not just the Microsoft news servers, renaming/changing established groups
is nearly impossible.

We'll have to wait till Longhorn when those groups are created (and the Microsoft IM universe
might be a different) to have a different name. Good suggestion though =).
