I have connected a Canon Digital Camcorder by Firewire.
It was recognized by WinXP and I transferred video
successfully. During one session Movie Maker 2 stopped
responding and the system crashed. Since then Windows
does not see the camera when connected. I have tried the
camera on other computes and it works fine. The camera
used to show up in devices under 'Imaging' but no longer
gets acknowledged. I am guessing that the driver somehow
is damaged. In Win98 it is possible to start in safe mode
and remove unused devices but I can't seem to find a way
in XP.

Its the same way F8 on bootup before
WinXP loads. The same F Key as 98.

Have you got SP1 installed?
