Some programs will not install

I had a problem a couple of months ago with realplayer and ended up
uninstalling it. I have recently tried to install it again but each time the
program is unpacked and ready to install itself it closes down, giving me an
error message. I thought this was just a one-off error but have just bought
a usb2 pci card and am getting the same sort of install problem loading the
drivers, it will function ok as usb1 but will not load the usb2 drivers from
the cd. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with XP or would it be
better for me to do a clean install ?

I never had problems with RealPlayer or RealOne installation. I'm running
XPPro. Never had any problem with USB2 either.

Windows Installer error
Go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 msi.dll
then
Go to Start/Run and type
SFC /SCANNOW
Make sure you have your WinXP CD in the CD Drive before executing the SFC
command.
