Remote Assistance

I was wondering if you might know why I cannot remote
assist my mom. She had a dial up which worked fine and
then she switched to Sprint DSL and it won't work. I
called Sprint and they said something about finding out
what port the messenger uses and forward that on the
router/modem. Any Idea's or does he know what he is
talking about.
