The software I'm using is Paint Shop Pro. I looked in
setup for what you suggest. I have the option of storeing
my pic files where-ever I please. No matter where I put
or retrieve them, when manipulating them, my system gets
all screwed up and I frequently loose my work because "the
clipboard is full. Please quit the program and restart"

Alright, now I understand what you're getting at.
You probably know that when you cut or copy information from a program, it
is moved to the clipboard and remains there until you clear the clipboard or
until you cut or copy another piece of information. Otherwise, the clipboard
would overrun your hard disk.
The thing is, whatever you cut or copy stays in the clipboard until you
either cut/copy something else or manually clear the clipboard. Clipboard
wasn't intended for that, so you'll sometimes get a message from Windows
asking if you want to clear the clipboard. Have a look in your PSP
preferences for a setting about automatically clearing the clipboard.
I have little experience with PSP myself, but I do know that the jasc web
site has a user forum. You might try your question there.

To answer your first question from the original post. You can change the
temporary folder for PSP from the C drive to a folder on the D: drive.
Start PSP and click on File, Preferences, File Locations. In the menu that
opens, click on the Undo/Temporary Files tab. You can type in the new
location or use the Browse to drop down a file menu. My version of PSP
(7.04) shows that I should be able to create a new folder but mine is grayed
out. I suggest you create the folder (I call mine Temp) in Windows Explorer
before you try to change the location.
Hope this helps.
