MSN 6 sharing fies

I can't accept things like picture files from friends on
MSN Messenger. I can't send any either. I've checked
tools/ internet options/ security and made sure it's
defaulted to the correct settings. The message appears
below...

You have failed to receive file "file name.jpg"

Any thoughts?

Greetings Martin,

Sending and receiving files from others using MSN Messenger 6 should work (due to the many
methods Messenger can now use), however if you're trying to receive a file from someone using
a previous version of Messenger, the problem is probably on their side -- when you receive,
you connect to your contact and download the file). This is probably due to either the
contact sending having a firewall that isn't allow Messenger to connect to the correct ports,
or not using a router with support for Messenger file transfer, or an UPnP enabled router and
MSN Messenger 5/6.

If you're not able to send however, assuming you're not sending to people using MSN Messenger
6, you may have the Internet Connection Firewall engaged in Windows XP -- to turn it off,
click Start, then click the Control Panel. If you're in category view click Network and
Internet connections then click Network Connections. Right click the network/internet
connection, then click Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that the Internet
Connection Firewall is unchecked.

Finally, if you're using a router, it will either need to have built-in Messenger support
(which may actually be preventing you from sending/receiving files to others using MSN
Messenger 6, if this is the problem, try upgrading the router firmware from the router
manufacturer) or support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). A number of routers now support
UPnP, so you may want to check your router manufacturers website to see if there is a
firmware update to support UPnP.
