I previously used Remote Assistance successfully with family (I use Cable,
they used dial up) with no problem.

A friend and I are trying to do this. We both are on Charter Cable and have
routers and use WinXP Pro.

Using Messenger, the process begins, tries to connect and then after about
20 seconds I get a message

"Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote
host name could not be resolved. Please try again."

Can anyone help with identifying the problem?

A slight correction as to cable service:
I am on Charter and he has a different cable provider. He is in the
Milwaukee area, @sbcglobal.net

Removing my router from the equation fixed my problem.
