View Full Version : Cancel automatic signing on Public PC

I installed Windows Messenger 4.7 a while ago on my PC
which is used by other people but mistakenly allowed
signing me in as the default. When I or anybody else
double clicks the icon it automatically signs in as me
which I don't want. When I cancel, Messenger shows 'Sign
is as ' or 'Sign is as someone
else'(something like that), the first signing me
automatically.
I uninstalled and re-installed Messenger 4.7 but get the
same signing problem. Is there a way I can dissable this
or remove my password that I supplied when I first
installed?

Thanks.

Greetings,

To fix this, click the Start Button, then click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts
in the Control Panel. Select your account name, and then on the left side of the screen,
under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network Passwords'. In the window that opens, click
the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click 'Remove'.

Since this is a public PC, you might be interested in stopping this 'Automatically sign me'
function from being toggled by someone else. You can stop this from happening by downloading
and running the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/disablenetcreds.reg
You'll need to reboot Windows to see the change.
