Hello all.
Everytime I start OE, AOL Instant Messanger starts. I unchecked the
"Automatically Log on to AOL IM" in options, but it still starts up
everytime. I also have AIM itself set to not start with Windows. It doesn't,
only with OE. How can I stop this?
TIA!

Possibly this will help:
Sever Instant Messenger link to Outlook Express
Q: We downloaded AOL's Instant Messenger. It works fine (for the kids, that
is). But the problem I have is that AIM keeps starting itself up. I have
gone into System Configuration and disabled the option to have AIM launch
automatically, but the next day AIM starts itself up again. This has
happened a dozen times and is annoying.
A: Apparently, when Instant Messenger is installed, it integrates itself
into Outlook Express. So Outlook Express is probably behind AIM's efforts to
defy you.
According to AOL, you need to sever the AIM-Outlook Express link. Get into
AIM's Sign On/Off preferences section and disable "Make AIM my default
instant-messaging program."
Exit AIM, then reboot your PC.
You may also want to look through other AIM preferences sections and make
sure that an option for AIM to start when Windows starts is not enabled.
That option also could be responsible for resetting the automatic-start
option within System Configuration. Also, check your Outlook Express
preferences. There may be an option to divorce AIM from OE.

Yeah, turning off that AIM as default IM did the trick. Thanks!
