Jonathan
I have finally solved the problems I have been experiencing, thanks to your
input and the input of other readers of this forum.
My last problem was solved by un-checking the option QoS Packet Scheduler in
the network connection. I don't remember reading anything about this
option. I stumbled on comparing two computers running XP. One had it
checked and the other did not. Since un-checking my computer and
un-checking a computer that I connect with, we now can use all the messenger
options. I am on a cable modem and the other user is on a DSL modem. I was
originally on a dial up modem ( I assume that is where the QoS option got
checked in the first place). We have seen no reduction in service since we
both un-checked QoS.
Maybe someone else may benefit from this option change also.
