View Full Version : Red X problem

For the past few weeks, IE 6.0 does not load some of the graphic files on a
web page. In its place is the red x in a box. I have checked Internet
Options/Advanced and "Show pictures" is checked, and "Show image download
placeholders" is NOT checked. In some cases, but not all, right-click/show
picture causes the image to appear, but not often. I see this on web sites
from all types of sources including Microsoft. It even happens on html
email in Outlook 2000.
Any ideas of the cause and fix?

I believe it is caused by critical update 818529 , Cumulative Patch for
Internet Explorer 6. I uninstalled it on mine and the pictures came back. Of
course you take your chances of having a security hole in IE 6 without the
update. but I like having the pictures. Try and remove it. You can always
download and install it again.

Probably a problem with the webpage (or slow connection), not you.
