View Full Version : Uninstall Windows XP

I have two drives on my system, with XP loaded on each one. Currently I'm
only using the installation on the D: drive. I'd like to uninstall the
version on the C: drive and turn it into a data drive, but I need to be
carefull because I think that the MBR and NTLDR are on the C: drive.

What's the best way to go about this?

Boot into the XP install you wish to run and go to Control Panel, System,
Advanced, Startup and recovery. You can edit the BOOT.INI file from there.
Remove the entry that points to the C: drive and save the file. If you're
not sure about what you're deleting, post the contents of BOOT.INI here
first.

The only files you need to leave on the C: drive are:

BOOT.INI
NTLDR
NTDETECT.COM
AUTOEXEC.BAT
CONFIG.SYS
PAGEFILE.SYS
HIBERFIL.SYS
IO.SYS
MSDOS.SYS
BOOTSECT.DOS (if it exists)

Other than that you should be able to clean off anything on the C: drive you
don't want.

Ah, that's part of the kadaitcha emu feathers toolkit. It seems to have
worked.

"A kadaitcha man is the Australian medicine man/witchdoctor. Kadaitcha are
men of knowledge & power and are greatly feared. They only travel at night.
With his feet covered in emu feathers, it's impossible for experienced
trackers to say from whence he came & where he went. If a kadaitcha is sent
after someone, the victim is sung to death & a bone is pointed at them. Once
the offender knows he's been sung, he knows he's had it, sits down, refuses
food & drink, falls into a trance and dies."

Do you know where the reptile show is held? On the Congwong Bay side (left
hand side heading to Bare Island)? Well right next to the reptoile ring is a
burnt out bus shelter. That's my place.
