Whenever the need to use Windows Messenger with my
Toshiba Laptop occurs, I get the following
message: "Signing in to Communication Service failed
because the service is temporarily unavaiable. Please
try again later." I started having this problem in early
June. Windows Updates have been added. Could this be
the problem? Toshiba suggested I reinstall the program
but if I do and the updates are added, it will do the
same thing again if that is the problem. I would
appreciate any help that someone can give me. Thank you.

Greetings Mary,

I assume you're just trying to sign into the normal Windows Messenger network? (.NET
Messenger). To fix this, click the Tools menu, then select Options. Click the accounts tab
and then click the option button '.NET Passport' under 'Sign in with this account first:'.
Then, uncheck the box 'My contacts include users of a communications service', click OK and
then sign on again.
