The icon showing that I'm connected to the internet next
to my clock has disappeared, along with the contents of
my 'network connections' folder. I can't disconnect
withut shutting down my computer now, or connect without
starting up a program that requires an internet
connection, like my browser. The connection window pops
up then. I've tried the 'make new connection' wizard, it
seems to go through ok, when i click finish it tells me
that it's been saved to my network connections folder,
but there's nothing there. During the setup thorugh the
wizard, I had clicked the box indicatin I would like a
shortcut on my desktop, but there's nothing there. When I
search my hard drive for the name of my connection, it
comes up empty. Obviously, the information is Somewhere,
or I wouldn't be able to connect, but it's not where it's
supposed to be, and my computer can't find it by
searching. I contacted my isp's tech help, they suggested
I do this...

1. Make sure you computer is not connected to the
internet.
2. Go to Start -> Run, on the line marked Open type
in "cmd" (without the quotes please) and click Ok
3. At the command prompt window that opens type in the
following: (again without the quotes)

"netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt"

After that is typed, hit the ENTER key. This will
effectively reload the TCP/IP stack. The computer should
be rebooted when it is done (if it doesn't do it on its
own). You should be able to connect as normal after the
reboot.

I tried that, and got a warning message...

Warning : Could not obtain host information from
machine : [JENNIFER]. Some commands may not be available.
No such interface supported.

I'm using windowsxp home version, and I don't have my
isp's software installed, I just use the dial up
networking through windows. That's all I've ever used,
and I've never had this happen before. I've also tried
updating my virus files and scanning, but no virus is
found..Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thank you,
~Jennifer~
