If you have the name of the worm take a look on Symantec website.
usually they tell you on how to remove it or provide a tool

Hi Bee,

If it's in a restore file, then it will not harm you unless you use that
restore file.

To remove it, use one of these methods:

1) Control Panel/System/System Restore tab, "turn off system restore on all
drives". Then close and reboot, then reverse the steps and reenable that
option. This will delete all existing restore points.

2) Same place, only click on settings and reduce the disk space allotted to
System Restore. This will leave the last few and delete the older ones.

3) You can also run cleanmgr.exe (System tools/Disk Cleanup/More options
tab), this will delete all but the last restore point created.

Between you and me, my favoured sting to a worm is essentially what Rick
wrote above:

Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System Tools
Disk Cleanup > Disk Cleanup (dialog box)
More Options (tab)
System Restore (panel) > Cleanup
OK

Hope this bee-to-bee tete-a-tete helps.
