My friend accidently booted XP with a ME recovery disc he
thought was XP (dont ask).
His computer crashed while installing Winram turboXP,
then when he restarted again it prompted him for a
recovery boot disc. In his haste he grabbed a ME boot
disc by mistake.
It actually worked for a short time but would crash after
10 minutes. this happened a few times then stopped
working altogether. He re-installed XP, it worked for 10
minutes, then crashed permanetly again.
The error message (on blue screen) is:
STOP 0x 000 000 ed 0x 8177de30 0x c000 000 6 0x 000000 000
0x 000 0000 0
UNMOVABLE BOOT VOLUME, DISABLE BIOS MEMORY OPTIONS SUCH
AS CACHING OR SHADOWING, or REMOVE NEWLEY INSTALLED
HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE.
He can't even get into safemode...HELP PLEASE

Best, though not the easiest way out of this debacle is, wipe HD clean and
do a clean install.. If you have a Western Digital HD, there is a utility
that will write zeros to the entire HD (a low level format in other words)
and then you can proceed from there. You can slo do ti with your XP disc..
