Dear Walt,

To rescue your pc from reinstalling, try the following.
Depending on, if you have your Windows drive formatted
with FAT or NTFS, you can get to DOS.

For FAT I think u can manage on your own, cause you
can use any bootdisk with the system files of Windows95
OSR2 or later.

For NTFS u need to use a special bootdisk which you can
get here:
(http://www.ntfs.com/downloads/NtfsFloppySetup.exe)

Normally u can't get into DOS on a NTFS formatted system.
So u need to use the bootdisk.

Just download the file. Pop in a formatted 3,5" floppy
disk. And let the util do it's thing.
