Do you know, I might've liked to have tried something like Linux. Other
people do still make operating systems out there, don't they? I might've
liked a blank, fresh system I could put a Linux or a Unix or some such
thing on, but I bought a computer from Dell and since you're the big game
in town I have to buy your software with the system.

I can only re-iterate the help and support sentiments of the OP. I have
XP Pro (OEM version) on my IBM notebook, and XP Pro (full retail) on my
home brew PC. In the past week I´ve posted twice with problems - the
worst had me restoring my set up from a back up drive image - because
the MS Knowledge Base offered no solutions, as did Google, and no real
advice of any use came from here. I have Mandrake Linux 9.1 dual booting
on my PC and RedHat 9 dual booting on my IBM. Both Linux OSs are rock
solid stable, easy to use once configured, and a pleasure to use.
Mandrake in particular puts fun back into computing. If you live in a
democtratic free market vote with your wallet and maybe the big end of
town will sit up and take notice.
