changes after transfering files from old computer

I transfered some files and settings form my old computer
yesterday and now it will not hide the inactive icons on
the start up bar - even though it says it is in the
options.
Unrelated to Windows - now I can not change my Eudora so
that the messages don't show up under the in box. Any
ideas?
