if you have saved a password for a user who is the
administrator, then you forgot the password, is there any
way to over-ride the log-in screen to get into the
computer and to change the password?

Hi Eliza,

You would need to login with another account that has Admin priviledges and
reset the other account. In a WinXP Home system, you should be able to logon
as Administrator in Safe mode usinga blank password (unless you actually set
one).

Once logged in, start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes), and
on the advanced tab click the advanced button. Click on the users folder,
then in the right pane right-click the user account and select "set
password".
