Nortons firewall has too many holes but then again Zone Alarm (free or Pro)
has a rather large one, too. Other than those two, the others really don't
hold up well when under stress. Try looking on the web for sites with such
info that helps you to decide for yourself.

Zone Alarm Pro is one good one. Probably others but this is an excellent
software solution.

Kerio was the one I thought, too, until the security community started
poking holes through it.

One large hole that requires a major rewrite in ZA free or Pro. Hasn't been
done yet.

If you find a perfect firewall that has no holes or that don't - sooner or
later - get holes punched into them, how about you post it? Or, for now -
post links explaining what these holes are so that people can decide on
their own instead of going by someone saying "yeah - they are okay - except
for the holes in them".

I dont know that there really IS a perfect firewall. It is possible there is
but if it is the case, someone's keeping it a secret!

However, the firewall you choose should be reasonable. So far, Nortons,
Kerio and Zone Alarm free or Pro arent. They all have lots to fix. Then
there's Black Ice (forget the name it is called now) which has so many holes
they model Swiss Cheese on it these days.

As to links, do your OWN homework and stop being so lazy and smarmy. You
think there aren't holes? They are posted on web sites dealing with
security. Let your fingers do the walking!

That's what I was thinking. As for me doing my homework - I DO - and when I
post something contradictary to what someone else posts, I TRY to post
counter-points with the EVIDENCE to back them. This is my point to you.
You are posting, until backed by specific and open information, opinion and
nothing more.

This is why, also, my advice usually consists of links to other pages and
assortments of choices. I feel it is better for someone else to make their
own choices on what firewall/antivirus software/popup stopper/adware removal
software to download/install/use based off their own research - I just try
to give them the head start.

I never made claims that I have to substantiate.

IOW Bruce is too damned lazy to look for himself and therefore "If I (Bruce)
cant see it, then it doesn't exist".

"Air" Bruce. It exists and you cant see it.

Stop being so childish. If you go to Google you'll find all you want just
like a hell of a lot of people do.

Oh wait - it's easier to decry when you don't know because it makes you look
like you know right? Old trick used by lamers worldwide. Are you a lamer or
not, Bruce?

No, obviously you dont or you wouldnt need someone else to provide the
evidence that is available to ANYONE who asks their favourite search engine.

> post something contradictary to what someone else posts, I TRY to post

No. You know nothing and the lamers way of hiding that is to ask for URLs
instead of finding the evidence for themselves. That has always been the way
and you arent the first or last to try that. Uninformed ALWAYS do that.
Informed know, uninformed who WANT to know go find out and uninformed who
dont want to know and just want to argue ask for URLs then tell anyone who
listen how they are right because there is no URL provided. Lazy sod. It's
all available. No membership card, no downpayment, just a little effort.
Afraid of effort?

Of course if you don't know where to look, try Bugtraq, for a start.

Although you are not worth my time - I have to point out I never asked you
anything.
Not only do I get my own information, I obviously am able to share it,
something you haven't gotten to in pre-school yet. You will, just wait. It
will come after nap-time.

You volunteer crap, spew it in large amounts with nothing to back it up.
It's funny.
Please continue.
Laughing this hard is great fun!

There is no doubt you laugh. After all, without the knowledge to know that
which you are talking about, laughing is all you can do.

However, having had my last say, I leave it to your schoolchild mind to have
the VERY last say. Go for it. Prove your lack of ability to find things for
yourself, understand answers and control yourself.

You started it, Bruce and you should have more sense than to do that.
However, if you are totally incapable of doing the work for yourself and
INSIST others do it for you, fine. Go to Bugtraq or any of the security
lists and you will find your answers. The rest you have to do for yourself,
mate. Sorry but I wont be wiping your arse for you.

I use several: Norton, McAfee, and Black Ice. All seem to work OK,
but Norton has more add-ons in the Internet Security version for
pop-ups, pop-unders, and the like. Warning: You can end up not
seeing things because of your settings or if you are going through a
hardware firewall, and you don't even know you don't see it unless you
happen to be on a machine that isn't blocking the item! Because of
holes that have to be filled in, it can affect access to Web pages or
content.
