Camera problem on XP

I have a Packard Bell DSC3. It worked fine on Windows ME.
I have just reinstalled Windows XP. The 'camera cannot be
located on the computer' is the reply when I try to open
the camera to download pictures. Any ideas on how to
getaround this?

In My Computer , when you plug in the camara do you get a mass storage
device? Jym
