Windows 2000 Server must be installed on a separate drive or
empty partition. Do you have one?

How do I install Windows 2000 after I've installed XP?
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_2k.htm

(above technique works with Windows Server as well)

Sanjay;
There is no such thing as "XP Home Edition 2000"
There is Windows XP Home and also Windows 2000, they are not the same.

There is also Windows 2000 Pro and also Windows 2000 Server, but not a
"windows2000 prop. Server"

A workstation OS can not be upgraded to a server OS.
Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP are workstation OSs.
Windows 2000 Server is a server OS

You also want to make sure with the laptop manufacturer that the
laptop can support the OS you want to install.

In any case, if there is no data you want and you are wanting a Clean
Installation, reboot to the CD and follow the prompts.

More accurate details and you may get a better answer.
