CPU turns off randomly

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with XP home installed.
I have been having problems with the cpu shutting down
randomly. For a while I thought it was something with
Word because it seemed to only happen when I had a
lengthy document open, but now it seems to be happening
more often with any or nothing running. I have a co-
worker that has the same problem with her Toshiba as
well. Is there anything I can check or does anyone have
any ideas. Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you have 2 different computers, from the same manufacturer, with the same
problem, I would certainly check the Toshiba web site. Look in their support
area (or similarly named) category, check their news groups (if they have
