View Full Version : avi files do not run automatically

I am using Windows Media Player for XP. When I double click on any avi file,
Media Player used to automatically run the movie clip. Now, Media Player
opens up but refuses to run the file. There is an error message to the
effect that the file cannot be located. On the screen, there is sometimes
the word "local" in the top left corner of the screen. The only way to run
the file is to go to File > Open and manually select the avi file.

What seems to be the problem? I have checked all the settings under Windows
Media Player and everything seems to be in order. I have also checked and
confirmed that avi files are correctly associated with Media Player.
