Hello Jonathan,
Thanks for your help so far. Yes,both my messenger
session is interrupted and my internet connection is
dropped (web browsing).I've disabled the anti-virus
messenger scan and yet I still loose connection. All this
time, I've been sending messenges but don't get any
replies; however,interestingly, I don't loose internet
connection while using & sending messenges on the LAN and
I do get replies from those message recipients.
Also, since I'm using msn messenger instead. How can I
remove the Windows messenger icon from the tray
permanently and not by clicking exit everytime?

>Firstly, to stop Windows Messenger from starting and
therefore signing you in, open Windows
>Messenger, click Tools, Options, Preferences tab and
uncheck 'Run this program when Windows
>starts'. As well, do you have Norton Antivirus 2003
installed? Norton added a new "instant
>messaging scanning" feature to Norton Antivirus 2003,
which can conflict with Messenger and
>cause this behavior. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus
(Right-click on the Norton Antivirus
>icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the
clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'),
>click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN
Instant Messenger and click OK.

>As for the "loosing internet connection", do you just
mean your Messenger session is being
>interrupted, or is your actual connection dropped (can't
browse the web, etc.).
