When I try to install new memory my PC switches itself on
and off.
I am asked if I want to start in:
Safe mode
Safe mode networking
Safe mode command prompt

Using previous configuration.

Nothing works.
When I bought the memory I gave the shop assistant my
handbook for my motherboard.
I took the extra memory out and booted up as normal and
my PC is back to normal.

Could be a faulty memory module. Return for a new one.

Or, it could be incompatible RAM, in which case he should ask for a refund.

Perhaps, if it's a computer shop, you take the computer with you when you
return the faulty or incorrect memory for a good one.

Go to crucial.com, key in your computer model and it will give you all the
info you need such as max memory for your computer, number of slots on your
mother board, type of memory etc..
