I've been using XP for over a year now, and am finding that it gets
gradually slower and slower, despite early promises to the contrary. I have
tried deleting temporary files & other rubbish, as well as defragging. All
to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi Peter,

Most likely something installed and loading at boot. See if the steps here
help:
