Referencing in word

In Microsoft Word how do you get the little 1's and 2's
etc which can be placed at the end of quotes and then let
you give bibliographic information at the bottom of the
page?

If you are using an NNTP newsreader (like Outlook Express, for example),
just double-click on the link Nicholas provided and the newsgroup will open
in your newsreader. Once open, you can subscribe to the group, so you can
return there easily. If you're using the web interface, stop torturing
yourself and use Outlook Express instead - it's so much better.

Place the cursor where you want the 1 to appear then Insert menu - =
Footnote and enter the footnote. Just click back to the body when you =
finish.
