I've slaved my old hard drive which had XP Home with me as the administrator
to a new hard drive, also with XP Home. When I try to access my files I get
a message that access is denied. Is there a way to override this?

1. Boot to the old XP drive.
Partition if you have not done on it.
Save whatever you want to save on that to the new partition.
Uninstall the old XP.(there is no merit having same OS on the same computer
unless you have to use different encoding, I guess)
Make sure the newer drive is formatted with NTFS.
or
1. Reinstall old XP on the same old drive.
2. Shut down and reboot.
3. You should see a DOS prompt to choose either new XP or reinstalled XP.
Then choose old one.
4. You are able to do whatever you want to do on that old drive.
Hope that work for you.
NOTE. if you have mixed formats i.e., NTFS / FAT32, you may not be able to
see the oppositely formatted disk.
(From FAT32 side to NTFS) If that is the case convert FAT32 to NTFS.
