Thanks, I'm half-way there, LOL.

The CD window opens in list view now but the dreaded blue bar always
reappears although I removed it as you said. I'm not too sure about how to
make the shortcut you recommend? I have a desktop shortcut to the CD Drive
now and it just says:

D:\

in the shortcut's target box. When I change it to:

D:\ %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

the blue bar still appears.

Thanks for your patience! :0)

I see you got it, but if you use the shortcut you don't need to use windows
classic folders. Some of the xp panes are useful, like in my computer and
control panel, and when playing music, etc... Using windows classic foders
turns all those useful options off. To create a shortcut to explorer and not
have it show the xp pane(but it still will in my computer, control panel,
etc..):
Right click the desktop, new, shortcut, in the location type:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe, hit next, name the shortcut, your done.
