There have been several messages describing problems
similar to those I have recently experienced.
Unfortunately, no answers as of yet.
Crashes where the system reboots and I get blue page
messages like BAD_POOL_CALLER and PAGE_FAULT.
Microsoft's analyzer says the problem is with a device
driver and to check newly installed hardware. but I
haven't installed any new hardware in many months!
Somewhere in XP's documentation I read that I should use
the "Driver Verifier" or enable "Special Pool," but I
can't find either of these!!
Old Sourdough thinks the problem might be with recent
Microsoft Critical Updates.
All i know is that I used XP-Pro for alomst a year with
no problems, and in the last 2 weeks I have been getting
more and more crashes.
And, oh yes, sometimes just before a crash, one or more
of the windows, or message balloons like "You have files
ready to be copied to your CD" begin to flicker very fast

Open Control Panel - System - Advanced - Startup and Recovery Settings
and clear the checkbox for "Automatically restart" in the System
Failure section.

That will stop the reboots but may just leave the computer sitting
with a Blue Screen Of Death STOP error message.

For your BAD_POOL_CALLER message see MVP Jim Eshelman's STOP errors
web page at http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm and click on the "C2:
Bad Pool Caller" item in the left column.

Good luck
