After reading your message I can understand the headaches
you have run across. As you know there are tons of popup
killer programs on the net and the one that I use is popup
killer. I have been using this for about 2 months. I would
say that it stops about 99% of popups that I have asked it
to stop.

The thing is that as these type of products hit the
market, the makers of popups are finding ways around these
programs. It is part of the Internet and will continue for
quite awhile.

Being in the IT industry, the consumer is always looking
for a cheap way to stop certain things that happen which
is sometimes beyond the control of Microsoft and AOL. If
the consumer wanted all of this protection, it would seem
to me that he/she would buy what is needed to prevent
these events..ie spam, popups, hackers. All of these could
be prevented with a very simple firewall.

All it takes is a little of your free time that everyone
has. If you believe paying up to $30.00 a month for
Internet access grants you the right to complain to
Microsoft or AOL for a silly popup. Maybe you should read
reports on what these ISP's pay to develop spam, junk mail
and stop hackers from gaining access to your computer in
general. How can you compare $30.00 to hundred of
thousands of dollers spent each year. But of course the
consumer has the right to complain to news groups and
companies because people are to lazy or cheap to buy a
firewall, spam filters, junk filters and a descent popup
killer program.

I ask you WHY in return
