Does anyone know where I can obtain a comprehensive list
of the icons, which are used in Windows XP Home Edition?
The list should contain a brief description of the
meaning of each icon. You might call such a document an
"Icon Dictionary".
I am interested in the "standard" Microsoft-supplied
icons, <not> "custom" icons.
Quite a few of the standard Microsoft Windows XP icons
are quite puzzling. An Icon Dictionary would be very
helpful, to this newbie.
Thanks in advance for your help! don hulse

How much you willing to pay for one. It can be done but I don't know of
anyone who'd do it for free. Those of us interested in them do it as a
hobby for the most part. I've two CD-R's full of icons.
If your interested in publishing my book and wish to give me a signing bonus
to live on while I do it, I'd be happy to while away the hours on such
esoteric matter. I've probably around 10 meg of XP icons starting back when
XP was in beta in my Whistler Icon Library however there's no dictionary
attached. I can create an Icon Library in minutes but setting down to tell
the tale of what each one represents would take a long time.

I did one for 98. http://www.mvps.org/serenitymacros/iconlist.html
It took days. Not eager to repeat. But see the above and also see the =
icons page at same site - Under Shell Icons list the purpose of the =
first 46 icons in 98 which are same as XP - these are the standard =
system icons. Between the two pages and a bit of common sense (they've =
been redesgned but there similar symbolically) you'll work out the =
standard icons.
Also type icons in OE's help to see what the 30,000,000 icons OE uses =
mean (ok only 39). I need to.
