I run my computer with Win XP. The last weeks I have a spent a lot of
time trying to solve a problem with explorer.exe. Quite often when I
want to load a file using "My computer" or any other software using
explorer to find spesific files, the computer hangs. Task manager shows
that explorer.exe use up all available CPU, and I think the reason is
related to that.

I see from different newsgroups that this problem is quite well known. I
have tried a lot of solutions given as advice for this problem, but
without result. Is there anyone who can guide me out of this nightmare?

Because my computer has different users I don't know excactly what or
when the problem started, but I was infected by the w32.bugbear for a
few hours some days after the outbreak of that virus. The virus was
removed and the computer cleaned by a tool from Symantec. I am afraid
that my explorer.exe problem may have occured about that time.

Method 2 will probably fix it, but you will need to redownload all updates.
