Passwords in OE

I recently bought a new machine with windows xp installed and am using IE
and OE 6.0. Since I am the only user, I am trying to set it up so that
passwords are not needed except for email. I can't get the machine to
accept the 'Save Password' option on any of the mail programs. What steps
do I go through to make it remember my password?
