Speech doesnt work in MS Word!!!

Whenever I try to use the speech option on MS word, it
doesnt work. I click on the speech button, but nothing
happens. I have tried contacting my manufacturer's tech
support, but they are as baffled as I am. PLEASE HELP
ME!!! I AM ALL OUT OF OPTIONS!!!
