deleting a folder I cannot do

On XP Home, I'm having a client who cannot delete a
folder. These folders were transfered to a computer a
this new computer. There are empty folders inside one
another. When tring to delete them, a message appears.

Cannot remove the folder, the directory is not empty.

Why does this happen?
