Hi all....

I have a DSL Internet connection. The problem I have is that always when I
open Outlook Express to read my e-mails, connection is dropped and it shows
a dialog box where I can re-type the internet password. I check the "connect
automatically" box and in settings, I have "Never dial a connection". The
connection is dropped too when I try to send messages by mean of Outlook
Express. Note that the dropping occures always when a connection is made by
Outlook Express, that is, when I open Outlook Express it drops the line
because it connects to the mail server. In the same Outlook Express session,
when I try to send a message, the line is dropped again.

Always when that dialog box appears, the checkbox "Connect automatically"
remains unchecked, and in settings, the radio button "Never Dial a
Connection" remains selected. So I don't know why is happening this.

Any suggestion? I have windows XP Professional.

Thanks
Jaime

Check your username, password and mail server address.

Of course it is correct. The dialog box I mentioned is the dialog box of
Internet connection, not dialog box shown by Outlook Express when mail
password is incorrect.

As I said, after the Internet connection is dropped automatically by Outlook
Express, that dialog box appears. The only thing I have to do is to press Ok
button so that Internet connection connects again. You can understand that
this is a very annoying behaviour.

In that case, Tools > Options > Connection tab > uncheck Hang up after
sending and receiving.

It is already unchecked.

This behaviour is very strange. I know that I can correct it by reinstalling
Windows XP, but maybe something in the Registry is disturbing.

1.. To reinstall only Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP, use the following
registry key:
2.. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}
3.. Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.
4.. Quit Registry Editor, and then install Internet Explorer 6.
5.. To reinstall Windows XP updates, visit the following Microsoft Windows

Uncheck the box for "automatically detect settings", at: IE, tools, options,
Connection tab, Settings button.
