Dear who ever can be bothered to read this e-mail
Cc anyone else who cares
I have come to the conclusion that Windows XP is the
worst product that I have had the misfortune to
purchase. Hardly any of my software that was compatible
with previous versions of windows works. Nor does any of
my hardware, I have spent hours downloading software from
the internet to cover this but still some of my older
hardware will not work. I have neither the time nor
patience to waste writing to you further.
THANKS AGAIN MICROSOFT FOR A NOTHER WONDERFULL PRODUCT NOT

There issues with XP expecially around scanners. However the benefits far
outway the problems. It is a far more stable platform. Older software can be
run in an older version of windows by right hand clicking the program and
going to advanced and setting the o/s.
Don't give up you'll be glad you persevered

Kris,
Nobody claims that you can take "old hardware" and run the latest software
without problems. Hardware generally requires drivers for each OS that it
supports, and hardware is so cheap these days that the mfrs frequently
"abandon" their products and will tell you that you need to upgrade the
hardware if you want to run the newest software! That's just a fact of life,
and one that I painfully remember when Number 9 (now deceased) abandoned a
$300 video card that I had purchased when Win95 was released! Should I blame
Microsoft for this, or just perhaps does some "blame" belong to the mfr that
made the product that no longer works?
I've still got a DEC Rainbow (8086/8088 CPU) in my basement as well as a 286
machine collecting dust and I doubt that WinXP would load on either of these
machines! Who should I blame for this? <vbg>
If you have problems that are SPECIFIC (I did this with x software/hardware
and the result was error y), and care to post them here, one of us may be
able to help you, but if all you want to do is vent, nobody can really help
you.

To put this into MS Speak:
"There are issues with My XP, especially around My
Scanners. However, the My Benefits far outweigh the My
Problems. It is a far more stable My Platform. Older My
Software can be run in an older version of My Windows by My
Right Hand clicking the My Program and going to My Advanced

I have a great old button that says: "I'm smarter than
Microsoft thinks I am." I still have it up on my cube wall,
and wear it to IETF's and other places where people will
understand just how stupid MS thinks I am.

Have checked your hardware compatibility with WinXP?
How old are your hardwares?
Is it ISA hardware? 16 color VGA card or monochrome?
8 bit sound card? 9600kbps modem?
if you have those kind of hrdwares,....yeah, i agree with you. So, i'll
recommend you to use Windows 3.1 or MSDOS 5.0.

You should have taken a bit more time to run the compatibilitiy test
to determine if your hardware was compatible with XP. Live and learn.

Microsoft is hampered by its need to maintain backward compatibility with
older applications and hardware. Even for new apps and add-ons, Microsoft
can only send out descriptions and sample code of how everything should, in
theory, work.
But at the end of the day, Microsoft can't force third-party developers to
write compatible code.
Sure, it'd be in the best interest of those developers to do so. But the
quality of their work still sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
I know that none of this will make you feel any better when you're staring
at a BSOD and some lost, unsaved work. XP may not crash as often or as
severely as previous operating systems (remember Windows ME?), but it still
occasionally falls over dead.
But when you shake your fist and curse the machine, try to remember it isn't
all Microsoft's fault.
The company is doing what it can to help hardware vendors write better
drivers.
