Hi,

I'm having real problems with XP I never had with 98.
Namely, opening or previewing downloaded jpg files. I
cant incorporate them into a favorite program of mine,
namely webshots. Anything from webshots works fine. Have
been in contact with the Webshots folks and they don't
have a clue. They say their software is compatible w/XP
and it is for all counts except downloads from other
websites.
Also where does XP store files that it incorporates as
background in the display properties? I have done several
searches for .jpg files and the "internet explorer
wallpaper" isn't listed.
Windows 98, like 95, had an Active Desktop feature quite
different from what XP uses. How does XP's version relate
to 95 and 98 for compatability, if indeed it does.
Thanks from a frustrated XP user about ready to format
and start over.

Windows\Web\Wallpaper is where some of the wallpaper files are stored at,
along with the temporary image file that "set as wallpaper" creates. If you
want to be sure to have an image file on hand for further use, suggest
*not* using the "set as wallpaper option. Instead, right click image, use
Save As and then select the folder of your choice.
