Missing Icon

In windows xp home edition when you insert a cd in the drive and close the
drive tray. A spinning cd icon is seen next to the pointer for a few
moments. All of a sudden my spinning cd icon has vanished, replaced by the
hour glass. I had just installed Microsoft wireless optical key board and
mouse. Along with intellitype pro 2.2. Intelipoint 4.1 has been installed
for some time prior. I have tried changing all the settings I can think of
to try and get the icon back. Does anyone know a possible fix. Any help
would be great.
