View Full Version : POP3 Weirdness

Hi,

My father is having trouble connecting to his mail using OE.

His email uses POP3 and whenever he tries to connect OE just puts up the
userid/password window. On my machine, using the same settings, I can
log in and download his email no problem.

So, I tried to telnet into the server from his pc. I connected and
entered his user info (USER ****) and got the "Ok, password required"
response, I then entered his password (PASS ****). The server returned
that the userid or password was invalid. However, from my machine I can
telnet in just fine and list any waiting emails (LIST).

Does anyone have an idea on what may be causing this as it's really
confusing me!

I wish it was that simple. As I say we also tried telnetting into the
server where the password is entered in clear text.... still didn't work
from his machine. :/
