I installed xp pro over xp home and things are not going
right. the welcome page at start up is on for minutes.I
would like to uninstall however there does not seem to be
a way. xp pro is not listed in the add/remove prograns
part. What's next?

Give it time. The upgrade install takes ages, even on a very fast P4
system.
Mine took so much time between the end of the CD phase and the finalising
of the system that I was able to make and eat my tea while watching it. The
results were well worth waiting for.
Also, that first connection to WU to get the critical updates downloads
them in a minute or two on a cable modem, but the installation took more
than 30 minutes. If you have your firewall on and want it to recognise what
is installed properly, then you need to sit and wait, for each new CU
generates a firewall warning. Again, all well worth the wait to do it
properly.
Or go back to DOS or Windows 3.1 if you are so impatient...

Hi PJ,
You cannot uninstall, that option does not exist on that upgrade path. You
might want to start examining what is running at the system startup, and
limit this to the minimal programs that are absolutely necessary. Start/run
msconfig and look to the startup and services tabs to start.
