I recently had windows XP Home reinstalled on my hard
drive. I was told that Java is automatically present, but
when I try to open things am told that Java is not
installed. Is there something I need to do to install
it, or must I get a download from Java? Thanks, A.

Hi
Install this MS Java VM build 3805:
ftp://ftp.visualware.com/pub/java/msjavx86.exe
Then go to Windows Update and install version 3810 (some security updates).
