Greetings Paul,
It is actually something different -- but it does run on the same network as Windows
Messenger does, the accounts are the same, and your contact list is the same (if you signed
into MSN Messenger) as well.
Naturally, you can contact anyone on Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger using either client.

Hi Paul,
Actually, MSN Messenger has two functions -- the first is 'Start Webcam', which actually is
compatible with anyone on any Windows version that MSN Messenger 6 supports, the second is
'Start Video Conference' which is only available on Windows XP clients (but is backwards
compatible with Windows Messenger, which the 'Start Webcam' function is not).
