View Full Version : large downloads

XP seems to have a great feature that sends the computer
to standby mode, or hibernation after a certain period of
time. My question is, if I'm downloading a large amount
of music, and leave the computer, how do I keep it from
going idle, and stopping the downloads?

Hi JD,
I would think that downloading would be considered " Activity " and the
timers would not start counting the " Idle " time until the download was
finished.
But just to be sure open the control panel and click on Power Options and
set them however you like.

It won't switch off if it's downloading. Your monitor may depending on your
power settings but I always switch it off anyway when downloading large
files unattended.
