Windows Messenger for WinXP

Hello I'm using win messenger in winxp pro and I was able
to access my hotmail email. And instantly go to chat room
in messenger. But some crazy things have been happening
with microsoft server. Now I'm no longer able to access my
hotmail account nor go to chat rooms from messenger. It
now flashes a message stating that theses serves must be
added by downloading them. Has Microsoft made some changes
in messenger and have not inform us? Note I now talking
about MSN Messenger I'm referring to winwdows messenger in
windows XP pro. So I went and downloaded the later version
which is 4.7.2009. And still the same I can not accesss
these serves. please help.
